So thrilled to be able to officially announce our new formalized relationship with Brand Van Egmond! After several years of being a fan, visiting their lights at the tradeshow and honestly having my breath taken away we are finally offically purshasing some items for dispaly. Look forward to seeing the Hollywood Block, the Delphinium Suspension, I Love You Love You Not and A Vie En Rose pendant!! Sometimes even when it’s gray and gloomy outside the world still shines!!

Today’s subject is The Glamour Suspension from Terzani. One word: fabulous. It was designed by Dodo Arslan for Terzani in Italy with hand-soldered metal links, a white drum shade and it is available in gold, nickel or white. Glamour’s metal links radiate a feeling of contemporary elegance and remind me of a beautiful chain necklace. This fixture offers a soft, romantic light while providing some pretty serious eye candy. This light is smokin’!!

i had a flash a few weeks back while looking through some of the new collections of fabric (we’ve been lucky enough to see…. ) that they’d sure make great flowers.. so of course figuring out how to actually turn a square pc of fabric into a flower was half the fun and then figuring out how to show them another interesting task… but here you go…. try it at home… i promise to give a demonstration with pictures if we get enough requests… i see table tops everywhere already covered with these fabrettes.

My favorite fixture for the week is the “Lillibet” by SLAMP. This light is created in Italy from a material called Cristalflex which is transparent and brilliant like glass yet very light, flexible and versatile. I discovered that SLAMP’s design philosophy is to design & produce modern lamps filled with irony, innovation, and decorative appeal. They certainly do a great job at that.
This fixture is hanging in the St. Helena store entryway & I’ve always thought it was beautiful, but I didn’t actually discover its true beauty until I had an inquiry about it. The Cristalflex material is so unique; you’d think it was glass until you actually touch it and discover that it bends. It is available in a variety of colors. You are able to select your favorite for the frame and you can even go with multicolored crystals if your heart desires. My favorites are the icy clear and the black is pretty wicked too…maybe I just have Halloween on the brain, but doesn’t it remind you of a bat?

so your sitting down with friends after a great meal, the air is feeling a bit like fall and all you can think of is how great it would be to have a fire…. but you’ve got no firewood and the idea of putting all that together just seems like way more effort with the great wine buzz you’ve got going on… so you bring out your very own, newly acquired, fabulous, table top fireplace…. Imagine that!

St. Helena held its’ last Cheers of the season this past Friday night and as what seemed to be the norm the locals were out in droves looking for a deal, tasting some great wine and just having fun. At Lunaria we poured Casa Nuestra - both the 2006 Tinto, St. Helena Napa Valley Estate and the lovely 2008 Symphony, Lodi Valley. the energy was nice we even showed off our new table-top fireplace talk about the cool present for the city-goer who has everything… If you came by thanks for your support and if you haven’t been to our St. Helena location yet please come on thru.

When something is beautiful you HAVE to stop and notice or at least you SHOULD. Too often we run around our world and miss out on beautiful things. Gruppo Lampe does this amazing light called the Prima Vera and at the show in Milan they debuted this new finish on a fairly new light… just had to share… so stop and smell (virtually anyway) the flowers.

Welcome to my first Lunaria blog post! This is the first of many which will document my experiences while working in this incredibly inspiring environment.
My name is Cecelia and I am a young, aspiring interior designer residing in the Napa Valley. After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, I set out to begin a career in the field I feel so passionately about. After working for a few designers in the Bay Area and designing my family’s wine tasting room in Santa Rosa, I landed here at Lunaria in St. Helena and so far I’m loving it.
There is so much for me to learn about this business and so far Jessica and Alia have taught me that lighting is one of the most important elements in design - choosing the right fixture can really transform a space. I’ve also learned that placing a contemporary light in a traditional space creates “tension” (as Alia says) and the juxtaposition of the two styles will update the space and add intrigue.
The assignment I’ve been given is to select a new favorite lighting fixture each week from Lunaria’s offerings. I will be sharing that information here, so stay tuned for my future posts!
xoxo,
Cece
